“𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬.” That realization has been a big part of my own journey. When I was invited to join my first-ever podcast, I had the chance to reflect on how my thinking about leadership has evolved — and why unlearning old habits is just as important as building new ones. The leadership styles that got us here won’t get us there. When I started leading teams, I leaned heavily on structure, planning, and control. Over time — and especially through Roche’s transformation journey towards a high-performing organization — I learned that true leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about creating the conditions where others can thrive. In the podcast, we explored some of the practices that shaped my growth: 🔹 Embracing authenticity and transparency as non-negotiables 🔹 Fostering psychological safety so people feel free to “fail fast and fail forward”. 🔹 Treating feedback as an ongoing conversation. 🔹 Setting clear expectations as the foundation for empowerment and accountability. Recording this podcast was both energizing and humbling — a reminder that leadership is never a finished skillset, but an ongoing journey of learning (and unlearning). Sanoma recently released this podcast internally as part of their leadership development program. Thank you for the great conversation Erja Yläjärvi and Hanna Johde. #podcast #leadership #Roche

In this episode of the Arete Executive Podcast, Richard Triggs sits down with Tim Dwyer, Business Growth Strategist and creator of Tolemy Group. Tim shares the story of how a vision he first had in 2008, to create a “Google Maps for business”, became the Tolemy Map, a practical framework that helps leadership teams chart direction, align decision-making, and activate strategy. He discusses the challenges of misaligned executive teams, the stress it creates, and how Tolemy empowers leaders to unlock the collective genius within their organisations. They also explore why now is a “reinvention window” for business, the importance of slowing down to speed up, and how leaders can create space for health, relationships, and long-term growth rather than just chasing more speed and busyness.
