The fastest thing in your company can quickly become the risk created by unmanaged AI. In my latest article for ALM's Daily Business Review, I argue that boards should make AI a standing agenda item with clear ownership and risk appetite, use the EU AI Act as a practical high-water mark, and turn governance into day-to-day practice. That means keeping model and data inventories current. It means assessing impacts and risks before launching. It means documenting safety, bias, and security testing. It means continuous monitoring with real escalation paths and the authority to pause. The Dutch Governement published today the AI Act guide. The guide serves as a tool to provide insights into the key aspects of the AI Act. To find out what the AI Act means for organisations, the guide proposes to work through four steps: Step 1 (Risk): Is our (AI) system covered by one of the risk categories?
