The Monastery of Ntra. Sra. del Prado, located in
the heart of Valladolid, Spain, is a historical gem with deep cultural significance.
Construction began in the 15th century, and in 1877 it was declared a cultural
interest asset. Within the INHERIT project, it stands out as the pilot site with the
highest level of heritage protection. Today, it serves as the headquarters
for the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, as well as the Ministry of
Education. But its story doesn't end there. The services to be hosted in the monastery
deal with the preventive maintenance of heritage buildings. This involves a new
technical inspection protocol and the HBIM methodology to improve building resources
management and to support decision makers. Other technological solutions will
also be used, such as augmented and virtual reality interfaces and
a digital twin-a digital replica of the building that will offer real-time
monitoring of the building's air quality. This approach both ensures cost effectiveness
and maintains the building's rich heritage for generations to come.
