Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion’s Post

🟣 We are honoured to present a distinguished professor at #PLASMA2025 - International Conference on Research and Application of Plasmas. 🟣 👤 Prof. Jesús Vega 🏢 Affiliation: Laboratorio Nacional de Fusión – CIEMAT, Spain 🎤 Speech: Signal anomaly recognition as precursor of off-normal plasma behaviours 🔎 What to expect? Disruptions are very fast events that produce the loss of the plasma confinement. The lead-up to a disruption can be recognised by anomalies in several diagnostic signals. The real-time recognition of anomalies in the signals allows for developing disruption predictors by means of machine learning techniques. This presentation describes several ways of quantifying anomalies and examples of predictors based on anomaly detections. 👨🔬 About the speaker Jesús Vega is Full Professor at the Laboratorio Nacional de Fusión – CIEMAT (Spain). He has been working in plasma physics for 42 years. Research activities of Prof. Vega have been related to data acquisition, control, remote participation systems, data analysis and experimental physics in thermonuclear plasmas. His current research areas include machine learning methods (real-time prediction of disruptions) and data mining techniques (analysis of massive databases in fusion devices). He was the scientific coordinator of JET experiments on disruptions from 2011 to 2016. 🗓️ Join the discussion this September at PLASMA 2025! 📌 15-19 September 2025, Warsaw, Poland 🔴 Organizer: Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion (#IPPLM) 🔗 More information: https://lnkd.in/dr5YtTbK #PlasmaPhysics #FusionResearch #ScientificConference
