"AI is not the silver bullet for higher education’s challenges. But it is one of the most powerful accelerators this sector has seen in decades." - Brent Ramdin We shouldn't be afraid of AI, but we need to be smart and ethical about its usage. https://lnkd.in/gKyQfDXi

🔎 Early Insights: How AI Is Transforming Student Success in Higher Ed Just spent some time digging into new data from Palomar College and Los Angeles Pacific University two early adopters of Nectir AI to boost student success. The results? Surprisingly powerful. It turns out that when you thoughtfully bring AI into the classroom, it doesn’t replace real teaching; it actually helps students dig deeper and think harder. Palomar students shared that their AI assistant pushed them to ask better questions and see new perspectives. And at LAPU, students who used Nectir AI regularly saw their GPAs rise by 7.5%. That’s real growth. Of course, getting these results takes more than just adding new tech. It takes clear communication, intentional training, hands-on support from your partner, and a bit of patience from everyone involved. I’m curious: How do you see AI shaping the future of higher ed? What excites you or worries you about bringing AI into the classroom? #highereducation #AI #customersuccess

Excellent piece by Professor Orla Sheils (TCD) on AI in higher education. The piece highlights the distinctions between AI (as a tool) and generative AI (which creates content, often based upon biased and partial sources). Professor Shiels rightly warns that AI will not solve our problems, but could assist in making education more accessible and affordable. The cornerstone of our higher education system must maintain focus on the development of critical thinking - irrespective of the available tools or challenges we face.

AI companies are now offering free subscriptions to students. At first glance, it feels generous, even revolutionary. But the truth is, they are making business decisions by understanding the sheer volume of this market. My point of concern is: how is it going to reflect in our Educational System? 🤔 I recently read an article from the World Economic Forum 👉 How do we align the business of GenAI with educational goals? The article rightly proposes that we must prioritize the process of learning over the product of learning. AI makes all solutions and information fast and readily accessible. We may get everything we ask for—but not necessarily what we truly need. This is why I believe education now needs a visionary reset. 🌍 For too long, education has been reduced to certificates, grades, and routines. Imagine classrooms where children step beyond walls to learn from people and places—where they touch and smell the world, breathe in its culture, and explore science and technology through their hands. Instead of rote memorization, learners would be challenged to think, create, and solve—skills the century desperately needs. Education would not stop at careers, but stretch into life skills also.. Well-being too must move to the center—mental, emotional, and physical health forming the foundation of growth, not an afterthought. 💡 Yes, technology will play its role. GenAI, too, is here to stay. But rather than becoming a shortcut, it must be introduced as a tool of wisdom—with context, ethics, and perspective. Students should learn to use it thoughtfully, not lean on it blindly. This is the right time to bring pedagogical change, assessment redesign, and new learning experiences into education. If we can incorporate multiple intelligence models into our systems, it would limit AI dependency. Let students learn more through their senses, analyze without traditional exams, engage in real-time intellectual interactions, and showcase their outcomes through amazing thoughts, products, and services. I always love this quote of Plutarch: “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” 🔥 And education should be… a fire to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled. Right...? #Education #AIinEducation #FutureOfLearning #EdTech #GenAI #Pedagogy Ref: https://lnkd.in/gEP2rWJz

This is a direct quote from the article, “ Roughly 62 percent of students see responsible AI use as essential for their future careers, according to the Grammarly report, indicating that AI literacy is emerging as a core component of higher education's value proposition. Nearly three-quarters of respondents reported that their schools have established AI usage policies, reflecting how students and institutions are adapting to new realities brought about by rapid technological change.” Still think #ResponsibleAI doesn’t matter? AI usage is rapidly reshaping higher education as students move from a period of experimentation to more intentional use that is focused on learning. Students increasingly understand that AI proficiency is an essential skill for learning and work. Educators, institutions, and employers have an exciting opportunity to transform learning and build an AI-ready workforce. Thank you to Kelly Z. and the Global Insights team at Pearson for bringing this research to the fore!
We’re entering a new era in higher education: One where student AI use is rapidly evolving from experimentation to strategic integration. Rather than looking for quick answers, today’s students are leveraging generative AI to deepen learning, improve efficiency, and unlock new academic possibilities. They’re moving beyond trial-and-error, adopting AI tools for writing, research, and concept mastery. Understanding these trends is essential for shaping policies and practices that foster responsible, impactful AI use. Whether you work in education, tech, or business, understanding how students are embracing AI can help us all anticipate the skills needed for the future of learning and work. I invite you to read my op-ed to reflect on these changes: https://lnkd.in/gvXdsG9R #AIinEducation #FutureofEducation #Lifelonglearning Thank you Global Insights team
