Anthropic’s higher education initiative looks like a step in the right direction. The Advisory Board adds real weight, the Fluency courses feel practical, and the best part is the honesty. There’s no talk of AI saving academia, only of making people literate in it. That’s exactly what universities need ... less hype, more understanding. Well done.
Professor of Creative Technologies, AI Coordinator, Interim Co-Director of the Center for the Creative Economy at Ringling College of Art and Design
Hey, everybody! I'm excited to share this news: the free, open education resource, Creative Commons licensed AI Fluency courses I helped develop for students, educators and teaching AI Fluency are now online. Check them out! https://lnkd.in/eE2NC_Dp

The integration of AI into higher education will have profound long-term implications for students, institutions, and the broader EdTech ecosystem. Anthropic’s approach highlights two important initiatives: 1. Higher Education Advisory Board: Chaired by Rick Levin, the board brings together senior academic leaders to guide AI integration, ensuring it enhances teaching, learning, and research while upholding academic integrity. 2. AI Fluency Courses: Co-created with educators, these courses provide practical frameworks for faculty and students to develop responsible, outcomes-focused AI skills. For professionals in EdTech and education, these initiatives underscore that thoughtful, strategic AI adoption is essential not only for innovation but also for measurable impact on student success. #AI #HigherEd #Edtech

"Most academic conversations about AI swing between extremes: revolutionary disruption or existential threat. Meanwhile, educators are left with practical questions: What exactly are my students doing with these tools? How do I maintain academic integrity while embracing useful innovation? How do I separate legitimate pedagogical applications from technological hype? "

I’m thrilled to share our recent work, “AI Operational Policy Integration at Top Higher Education Institutions”, has been published in The Journal of Applied Instructional Design. https://lnkd.in/gX6kU49g This study dives into the operational dimensions of AI in higher education, from infrastructure and training to monitoring, evaluation, and fostering AI literacy. While much of the literature discusses AI’s potential in education, we focus on the specific strategies that top universities are implementing right now. We highlight how these universities are shaping the future of teaching and learning, creating ecosystems where AI supports innovation, inclusivity, and effectiveness. I hope this work sparks meaningful conversations on how we can thoughtfully integrate AI in higher education to support students, faculty, and the broader learning community. #AI#HigherEducation #EdTech #Policy #InstructionalDesign #Research
