In the race to snap up virtual cable modem termination system (vCMTS) market share, another sizable US cable operator has been taken off the board. Midcontinent (Midco) has selected Harmonic's virtual CMTS, DAA nodes and remote PHY devices to support an HFC network upgrade that is targeting completion by the end of 2028. 'We have a very accelerated plan over the next three and a half years,' says Bill Chatwell, Midco's SVP of technology.
