🎓 It’s hard to believe I just graduated last week. What a journey it’s been. After 10 years of dreaming, I made it to UC Berkeley. While the beginning wasn’t what I expected (yes, I joked about asking for a refund), I quickly realized the true value wasn’t just in the classes. It was in the people, the conversations, and the lessons learned beyond the classroom. I’m grateful to so many who shaped this journey: • Chris Matteson, MBA, Dave Franks, and Kimberly Sottero, who modeled leadership through action. From organizing events to budgeting and planning, they made everything run smoothly. Rahul Parab's crew, thanks for surviving my teasing with grace and a smile. And our most popular GSI, Lokesh Mandava, not only guided us through class like a pro, but he also sacrificed his free time (and probably his sanity) to help me cram for my exam. Huan, Olivia's Tanghulu partner, building a business together has been a highlight. • Special thanks to Donald Hanna. His approach to looking at economic data from macro and micro perspectives has been incredibly valuable, helping me understand the broader economic trends and their effects on markets and individual decisions. Despite his busy schedule, he provided invaluable guidance during my independent study, shaping my analytical approach to investment. •Gregory LaBlanc, our strategy professor, not only expanded my perspective on business but also offered invaluable career advice that helped guide my professional journey. A heartfelt thanks as well to Steven C Huff and Sarah Moshary, who generously devoted their time outside the classroom to help us develop marketing and pricing strategies for Olivia’s Tanghulu. Their support truly went above and beyond. •Satish Swamy, CFA, who is incredibly popular at Haas, you have to fight for a spot in his class. His incredible ability to remember everyone's name instantly kept us on our toes. 😅 He brought invaluable real-world insights into the classroom, and his lessons will stay with me. •Kevin Coldiron, who allowed me to sit in his class and mentored me on quantitative strategy. His patience with all my questions was essential in shaping my understanding of quantitative finance. •Craig Huie, CFA, CAIA, who is running the UC Investment Academy for students interested in investment. He organized learning opportunities, company visits, and mentored students, providing invaluable insights into the industry. Craig has always been there for me, offering career advice, resume reviews, and interview practice. I encourage fellow UC students to take advantage of the incredible opportunities UC Investment Academy offers to help shape your career and gain real-world experience in the investment field. To all my classmates, professors, mentors, and friends, thank you. It’s not just the degree I’ll carry forward, but the people and lessons that shaped me. I'm excited for the next chapter. #ucberkeley #berkeleyhaas #haasemba #ucinvestmentacademy #oliviastanghulu
