*clears throat* Some new data from the restaurant world: 📉 Average tips dropped below 15% for the first time in years 💸 First-party delivery is 64% more profitable than third-party 🥛 Nearly half of coffee drinkers in OR, ME, and NM are opting for oat milk Dig into the trends: squ.re/restaurantdata
Great insights. Do you have any data on how these trends vary by region or type of restaurant (e.g., fine dining vs. fast-casual)? I'm curious if the drop below 15% is a nationwide trend or more concentrated in certain areas.
Really interesting! I’ll always opt for 1P delivery if it’s available
Would be very interested in seeing data on the style of restaurants - are tips dipping equally across fine dining, casual dining, and fast casual/take out? Is this a trend we're seeing as significant in coffee shops but not as significant in diners? There's alot of chatter in the restaurant industry about what sort of work constitutes a tip - something more granular could help determine the consensus of the general public and would be useful in predicting accurate compensation for restaurant workers.

6dI didn’t even think about the fact that payment processors like Square would track data like this from their users. This is actually super cool! So awesome to see the stories that data trends can tell us
