When someone asks me if their startup idea is good, I ask who their cofounder is. The #1 reason startups fail is bad cofounder fit. Ian and I knew each other for over a decade before starting Cassidy. We’d already built products together, started projects, even lived together. That history meant we’d stress-tested the partnership, shared values, and aligned goals long before incorporating. Your idea doesn’t matter when you’re starting a company…it’s going to change. But you’re stuck with your cofounder. If you don’t have a great one, don’t start the company yet.
you can literally scrap the product, pivot 10x, lose 90% of ur funding, but if your cofounder’s energy is off every moment becomes 10x worse bc you’re constantly fighting bad vibes instead of product problems.
The decade-long relationship before incorporating is smart - most people rush into business partnerships after knowing someone for months. The cofounder chemistry piece is crucial though, especially when you hit those inevitable moments where everything feels broken and you need someone who won't bail. How do you advise people who have the right cofounder match but are still searching for a problem worth solving together?
I’m actively seeking a cofounder but don’t know how to go about it effectively. Can you help me?
Two of the best founders in the game 🚀 👏 🔥
I remember meeting you guys pre-Cassidy, and there was definitely a special connection then & even more now! Pumped to follow along the journey
Totally agree! That cofounder fit point is so true. I've seen great ideas crumble because of partnership issues...that pre-startup history sounds invaluable!
So happy for you both!

5d💯 Spot on, ideas evolve, but a strong cofounder fit is what truly carries a startup through the chaos.
