⚡𝐀𝐈 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 We often imagine AI as giant models locked away in massive GPU farms. But what if the real future of AI is smaller, faster, cheaper — and everywhere? Before ChatGPT went mainstream, researchers and startups were already exploring alternative pathways to make AI. Some fascinating directions include: 🔹 𝐎𝐧-𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐈 (𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐲𝐌𝐋, 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞) – running models directly on your phone or IoT device. 🔹 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠) – making giant models lean and efficient. 🔹 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐞 / 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞 (𝐌𝐢𝐱𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐨𝐟-𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬) – only “waking up” expert parts of a model per query. 🔹 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 – using light instead of electricity to move data. 🔹 𝐈𝐧-𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 & 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞 – chips that compute where data is stored. 🔹 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 – brain-inspired chips for ultra-low power AI. 🔹 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 – training across devices without ever pooling raw data. 👉 Each of these is a radically different vision of AI — some already practical, some still experimental. 💡 My question to you: If you had to bet on one of these methods 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐈 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 — 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐲? Let’s go beyond the “more GPUs = more AI” mindset and explore how intelligence could become truly accessible to all. 🌍 #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #FutureOfAI #MachineLearning #EdgeAI #TinyML #NeuromorphicComputing #PhotonicComputing #FederatedLearning #DeepTech #TechTrends #Innovation

Sometimes, in order to build innovative technology products, we need to step back from the benefits of the core technology and the solution it generates. We need to look at the unique risks that these technologies may generate. Risks that are not captured in standard frameworks. Not just for mitigation purposes. Sometimes, product differentiation opportunities can be found in the approach to addressing unique risks. This paper highlights how sensors create unique risks that are often overlooked in AI governance frameworks (like NIST’s AI RMF or the EU AI Act). These risks stem from the materiality of sensors (their physical properties, deployment, and embedded intelligence) and from calculative models (economic and social logics driving their proliferation). The paper proposes a sensor-sensitive AI risk diagnostic framework with five dimensions: Calibration: Miscalibrated sensors (e.g., cameras not tuned for darker skin tones) can produce biased or unsafe outputs. Documentation: Lack of adequate datasheets/model cards obscures transparency and accountability. Proprietary Data Profusion: Economic models incentivize massive, opaque data collection, often of poor quality. Privacy: Tiny, pervasive sensors enable hidden data capture and inference risks; notice/consent mechanisms break down. Waste: Environmental harms stem from manufacturing, rare-earth extraction, batteries, and “stranded e-waste” in remote deployments. The paper also has some rich generic reading material on sensors, for those interested 😌 #ai #artificialintelligence #sensors #iot #tinyml

⚠️ Hyper-connectivity + AI: Are we building resilience or fragility? The modern world is rapidly wiring up homes, cars, hospitals, factories — even medical devices. Combined with the accelerating influence of Artificial Intelligence, this vision promises efficiency, convenience, and innovation. But with every new connection, the attack surface expands. If IoT exposes our bodies — through hacked pacemakers, hijacked vehicles, or paralyzed hospitals — AI exposes our minds — through automated attacks, vulnerability discovery, and weaponized misinformation. What was once theoretical is increasingly within reach of malicious actors. This raises a fundamental question: Are we engineering a safer, smarter future — or constructing a system so fragile that one breach or one misaligned algorithm could trigger cascading failures? Perhaps resilience demands a recalibration. Not abandoning technology, but being deliberate about where and why we connect. True resilience also means reconnecting with the principles nature has perfected for millennia: balance, adaptability, and sustainability. ✨ Let’s disconnect to reconnect — by connecting where it matters. The real opportunity lies in redefining progress: not in wiring everything or blindly scaling AI, but in choosing the right connections and right applications — those that make us stronger, safer, and truly sustainable. 👉 As leaders, innovators, and technologists, it’s time we reexamine our IoT and AI strategies: Are we building systems that empower humanity — or ones that risk undermining it? #Cybersecurity #IoT #AI #ZeroDay #Resilience #FutureOfTech #Sustainability
