In a recent presentation, I positioned Wellbeing by Design not just as a process, but as a philosophy and an opportunity to evolve leadership thinking beyond the strong threads of Taylorism, Fordism, and Weberian bureaucracy that still shapes how work is designed, managed, and structured today. Connecting the dots between Wellbeing by Design and the rapid rise of AI, it struck me this morning that we are at a rare inflection point where both the tasks of work and the structures around work are primed for redesign. This rare moment in history is our chance to move further into the 4th industrial revolution with evolved thinking that asks not only why work should be redesigned for both people and performance, but how to do it through cross-disciplinary action that reshapes systems and structures, instead of tinkering at the surface. The real choice before us is: Will we carry old blueprints of how work is managed, structures, organised and controlled into this new era, or will we design better? The future of work is being written right now, and I will always stand firmly in the camp of leveraging Wellbeing by Design, socio-technical systems thinking, and human-centred design to ensure it’s a future where people and performance rise together.

We believe that big changes often come from a simple conversation: conversation with our people about what really matters that helps build trust, spark change and remind our people that what they think matters.
