Porsche presents its new wireless charging system at IAA MOBILITY. Florian Risch and I already had a look at the sample. As a start, it is an add-on for home use, but it also is another step into the world of autonomous driving: Because autonomous driving necessarily comes with autonomous charging. The Porsche presentation is perfectly timed, since the E|road center of Fraunhofer IISB recently started in Hallstadt. The goal is to build a European center for wireless power transfer. Various test benches, winding + contacting systems and even a ~1km test track will be setup there to support the automotive industry and to lead the technology scientifically into the future. 🚗🔋
