The Bridge? 🔹 What it is: AES67 is an open standard defined by the Audio Engineering Society. It sets out rules for audio-over-IP interoperability: clocking, transport, encoding, and synchronization. 🔹 What it does: Lets systems like Dante, Ravenna, Livewire+, Q-LAN, and WheatNet-IP exchange audio streams, even though they’re different ecosystems. Defines how to stream uncompressed, low-latency audio over standard IP networks. 🔹 The “bridge” idea: You could say AES67 acts like a bridge protocol, but technically it doesn’t convert or translate formats—it just enforces a shared standard. If each system is AES67-compliant, they can interconnect without extra hardware or proprietary translators. 👉 So yes, it functions like a bridge between otherwise “closed” systems, but only if both ends support AES67.
