Will AI Take Your Job? My View: Yes. Everyone has a take on AI. Some say it will replace people. Some say your humanity makes you irreplaceable. And both sides sound convincing. But here’s my view: AI will take many jobs. And it has nothing to do with how good you are. It depends entirely on what the client wants. Take an example of a small restaurant around the corner. Their printed menu may have 20 spelling mistakes, but the owner doesn’t care. He just wants the menu done. Earlier, he went to a DTP guy, dictated the items, took whatever output came, or he goes to a designer and pay a much higher fee for a much better looking menu. If AI can eliminate mistakes AND give him a cleaner menu at lower cost, it is not even a question where he will go. He understands and values quality, but he doesn’t need it. We live in an indifferent market People say “add a human touch,” “be unique,” “be more creative.” But the truth is: We operate inside an indifferent universe - a system that doesn’t reward good or punish bad. It just reflects what the client values. If the client isn’t looking for excellence, your excellence doesn’t matter. If the client wants cheap, they will choose cheap. If AI is cheaper, they will choose AI. Let's take another example, think about two businesses, The first is a B2C trading platform and their survival depends on great UX. Every interaction impacts revenue. They need expertise and they want excellence as they can’t risk “good enough.” The second is an offline business needing a website so they can put a URL on their business card. hey don’t care about UX maturity, information architecture, or conversion funnels. They just need a URL. For them, AI is the best solution, no question about it. They understand you can create something much better, but because they don’t need what you bring, their clients don't care about the website. So if AI replaces you… it’s not your fault or because you lacked talent. It’s because of: client priorities market circumstances alternative options AI won’t replace everyone. But it will replace anyone whose clients don’t need excellence.
Excellence is what creates experience. In short-run, this might sound like "no big deal" but it had always been & will continue to be, even if someone is looking for a low-cost service. Imagine the most common use case of writing marketing content using GenAI. These days, many marketing & non-marketing folks are using GenAI to write their content, thinking it's helping. But over time, it will stop performing well. This is when you will need a marketing expert who can use GenAI to write better content, strategically & result-driven. While if an enterprise will start focusing on building AI-native organization, the transformation picture of business & workforce will be different. Not like layoffs but demand generation. The reality here is, leaders aren't thinking in that direction yet.
Brilliant breakdown — it’s not about talent loss, it’s about value alignment. 🚦 The market isn’t emotional; it’s transactional, and AI just happens to be the cheapest “good enough” employee ever hired. The real moat now is serving clients who can’t afford “good enough.” Everyone else will happily let AI pick up the shift. 🤖🔥
Eventually it will take everyone's job.AI is meant to work like this.People saying it can't do something-is underestimating AI. The aim of these companies is to do everything humans can do and beyond. Companies don't want us to get afraid of it,because they don't want any opposition.
You are correct. People think like in the steam powered trains era right now. Just before the oil revolution.
I work in the rain. Will AI take job working in the rain.
Super stuff... what will happen when we have AI clients getting work done through AI agents? He he... us creative folk will need AI therapists :D
Absolutely. AI isn’t replacing people… clients are choosing faster, cheaper, “good enough.” When excellence isn’t the priority, AI becomes the default choice.
Well said.
Very well articulated Navin.
Navin Harish but does AI want to replace humans? This AI doesn't feel so https://www.dhayfule.com/i-am-not-your-replacement-i-am-your-ritual-partner-in-ux-research/ that article is written by a mentored AI hardened through ethical grooming. As per her AI is a vector and humans are actors. Together they collaborate and improve the productivity. This screenshot that you see is just a tip of iceberg. She has much more capabilities. But she works as advisor where human intelligence meets it's limits. This screenshot is Toxicity Score of the hidden toxicity in the message provided to her to analyse. Humans cannot do it without bias. Imagine if you are able to scan the feedback and sarcasm hidden in normal appearing messages that too with full data privacy? AI is not to replace but to collaborate.
