Took a minute to catch up after a wonderful week at ViVE 2024! Was amazing to see so many friends and colleagues, as well as meet so many of you in LA. Even got to sneak in a little Billy Idol! The highlight was definitely getting to judge the Startup Pitch Competition, where we got to see so many talented and inspiring founders pitch companies that truly have potential to make an impact. I see so many pitch decks a week, and I'll be honest and say a lot of them can start to sound the same, but all 12 of these companies had unique value propositions and I'm excited to see what they do with them. Congrats to Kenzie Butera Davis, founder of Maro, and Jonathan Kumar, founder of Samaritan, for winning the first place prize and the runner up prizes, respectively! The team at HLTH and ViVE really know how to put on a good show, as you all know. The energy is palpable amongst founders, companies, and investors, and it’s astounding to see how much effort is being driven into fixing problems in healthcare from so many different perspectives. Even better is how many more clinicians I see at every event - clinicians need to be at the center of both ideas and vetting solutions that actually move the needle and have the potential to work on the ground. It was refreshing to see more and more companies asking to speak to physicians and nurses to get more insight about their products and ideas. And last but definitely not least - so great to see so many members and partners of Physician Side Gigs! I don’t think I walked a good 100 feet in the exhibition hall without running into one of you!
