The key reason the Toyota bZ4X electric vehicle has returned to the Thai market at a significantly lower price is Toyota's participation in the government's electric vehicle support scheme, known as "EV3.5." This program essentially works as a trade-off. In exchange for the government providing financial benefits—including subsidies and various tax reductions on the imported bZ4X which enable the lower price—Toyota has committed to investing in a local EV production facility to offset the imports. The expected vehicle that Toyota will manufacture in Thailand to fulfill this commitment is the all-electric Toyota Hilux EV pickup truck, with local production scheduled to begin in late 2025 or beginning of 2026. In short, the bZ4X is more affordable because it receives government support, which is conditional on Toyota's promise to produce the Hilux EV in Thailand in return. This is a core part of the government's long-term strategy to attract investment and establish the nation as a regional hub for EV manufacturing. https://lnkd.in/gva2bFN8

The MPV Low segment still dominates the Indonesian automotive market. According to Gaikindo's whole sales data YTD July 2025, Low MPVs rank second, behind LCGCs. MPV Low segment is still dominated by the Avanza, with a 49% market share. The Xpander ranks second, but by a significant margin. In terms of brand, Daihatsu still holds the second position with three models: the Gran Max Mini Bus (GM MB), Xenia, and Luxio. EVs and hybrid penetration is still small in this segment. Hybrids are limited to the Ertiga, while EVs are still present in the Mitsubishi L100 and DFSK Gelora, and even in Low MPVs/commercial vans. We are still waiting for breakthroughs in EVs and hybrid penetration in this segment, while maintaining prices within the low-priced MPV range.
