This is an excerpt from one of my recent reviews, and a common scenario with low back pain clients who have previously "been through it". People often go (or referred inappropriately) from clinical department to department, or try out endless "treatments" in the hope of fixing low back pain. The cause must be treat, not the symptom. Clearly that message is not getting through into the mainstream. Most low back pain falls outside the realm of a medical diagnosis, and this area shockingly makes up between 85% to 95% of instances. Structured physical activity is usually the order of the day, correcting movement dysfunction and working on the body as a whole. Not just where it hurts! The first port of call should always be your doctor if you have concerns about back pain. This should then lead to the correct pathway. #lowbackpain #communication

Ever wonder how doctors pinpoint the source of back pain? Understanding the diagnostic process for facet syndrome can shed light on the complexities of spinal health. A combination of physical tests, X-rays, and MRIs helps healthcare professionals identify misalignment, disc thinning, and joint irritation, all of which contribute to this common condition. Recognizing the multifaceted approach to diagnosis underscores the importance of comprehensive care. Pinpointing the source of discomfort — identifying “the thinning of the disc” or the rubbing of joints — is the first step toward effective management. Curious to hear how others have navigated this? #SpinalHealth #FacetSyndrome #BackPain #Diagnosis #Healthcare #Wellness

September is Pain Awareness Month - a time to reframe our relationship with discomfort 💭 As healthcare professionals, we often see patients who've been told to "just push through" pain. But what if we shifted that narrative? Pain is not weakness. It's wisdom in disguise. Every ache, every tension pattern, every moment of discomfort is the body's way of communicating that something needs attention—not something to be silenced or shamed. In naprapathic medicine, we teach patients to listen to these signals with compassion rather than criticism. When we honor what the body is telling us, we open pathways to genuine restoration. This month, let's challenge the cultural narrative that pain equals weakness. Instead, let's recognize it as the body's sophisticated communication system. Healthcare colleagues: How do you help patients reframe their relationship with pain? #PainAwarenessMonth #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare #NaprapathicMedicine #ChicagoHealthcare #DrSooforYou
