A monumental pink structure now looms above the Olskroken traffic junction in Gothenburg, Sweden. bLINK, a permanent installation by German artist Katharina Grosse, is unlike any previous piece of public art in Sweden. Created for the Västlänken railway project and commissioned, in part by Statens konstråd and Trafikverket, for the Kronotopia programme, it’s an artwork designed to last—both aesthetically and structurally. To meet the demands of this ambitious art installation, its components have to withstand not only time but also the challenging environmental conditions of the site.
