Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Post

Today, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the engineering and design phase of the Interborough Express (IBX) has begun! This is a major step forward for the project, which will connect historically underserved communities in Brooklyn and Queens to the subway, bus, and Long Island Rail Road.

Good luck. Hope it gets completed before 2040 and doesn’t break the bank as every other project has done. How’s the “G” line upgrades going these days? https://nypost.com/2025/07/31/us-news/mta-project-to-modernize-subway-line-could-be-millions-over-budget-and-years-late-report/

Making good progress, Metropolitan Transportation Authority. I'm assuming the low floor LRV's and platforms shown in the artists rendition are because of the Roosevelt Avenue station's needs

Since you brought up NYA, perhaps folks would be interested in this lawsuit. The allegations are very disturbing, and since they operate under an agreement with LIRR, you would think LIRR and/or the MTA would have investigated themselves so as to clear the air. But no. You would think NYA's concession would have been cancelled after the 2015 grade crossing accident in Maspeth, wherein NYA was a fault. That's incredibly rare. The FRA did a deep dive as they call it, and the report would have been buried were it not for the intervention of Cong. Grace Meng. NYA has not won a competitive Jake Award in nearly 20 years. They are at the bottom tenth among Class III RR's in terms of safety. That's per the FRA. Yet, this is the company the MTA chooses to unleash on its LIRR passenger territory trackage. What will they do in 2027 when the concession agreement expires? Do you folks who ride LIRR want a safe freight operator, or something far less than that? I should add, NYA is a "partner" in this venture. They put up no money for this, but they're a partner. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/14/nyregion/railway-workers-lawsuit-discrimination.html
