I am proud to announce that I have published my first proper article! This work is on using EBM process parameters to control the size of carbides in high-speed steels and hardmetals. It's open access so you can all read it.
VBN Components is leading the way forward in material development by using Electron Beam Melting Additive Manufacturing to control the carbide size in the Vibenite(R) materials. The technique is called Vibenite® Grado. You can now select a specific volume of your component that should have a different average carbide size than the rest of the part. This could e.g. be used for better wear resistance in specific applications. The images show the Vibenite(R) 290 with (a) fine and (b) coarse carbide size. The result is achieved after a spatially change in melting settings. The technique is presented in the Progress in Additive Manufacturing with open access: https://rdcu.be/eCnVA . Patents pending. #AdditiveManufacturing #AM #pbfeb #ebm #epbf #3dprinting #carbides #AdvancedMaterials #Manufacturing #AdditiveManufacturingMedia #EBAMConference #NextGenMaterials #MicrostructureEngineering #HardmetalsInnovation #SmartManufacturing #WISE Pär Arumskog Saad Khalid Ulrik Beste
