🍃The Orchestra Park by SoBA, completed in 2023, transforms an 8,500-square-meter urban lot in Kunshan’s Huaqiao Economic Development Zone into a dynamic public space. Inspired by Kunshan’s Jiangnan Silk and Bamboo music tradition, its design incorporates flowing curves reminiscent of traditional instruments. A circular jogging path connects surrounding neighborhoods while dividing the site into a preserved riverside greenbelt and a vibrant recreational area. The greenbelt retains mature camphor and dawn redwood trees, with minimal intervention to maintain the natural woodland, featuring winding pathways, a waterside viewing platform, and sound-interactive installations. The recreational area brings musical elements to life through interactive spaces shaped by the site’s natural topography. It includes a skatepark, climbing structures, a fitness playground, an open-air theater, and a musical fountain plaza, creating an engaging environment for all ages. By integrating cultural heritage with contemporary design, The Orchestra Park serves as both a natural retreat and a lively social hub for the community. 👩🎓Join PAACADEMY’s workshops to learn the most advanced tools in architecture from pioneering architects and designers: https://paacademy.com/ #parametricarchitecture #modernarchitecture #china #publicspace #recreationalarea #landscapedesign

Lovely synthesis — the circular path and greenbelt/recreation split are urbanistically strong.

Nice. The roofs look like leaves. I like how the park has a skate park, a fitness playground, a climbing place, and a little theater place. It is cool to have such public activities.
