Building My IT Skills Step by Step We use 3rd-party access (like Rufus) because it provides powerful, flexible, and faster tools than built-in options. It’s important for IT tasks like creating bootable drives Step 1: Download Rufus Step 2: Prepare your USB Step 3: Run Rufus Step 4: Select ISO / OS Fille In Rufus, under Boot selection, click Select. Choose the ISO file (Windows, Linux, etc.) you downloaded. Here i am using Window server iso. Step 5: Configure Rufus AS SHOWN IN PICTURE Step 6: Create Bootable USB Click Start. Rufus will warn that your USB will be erased → click OK. Wait until the process finishes (progress bar will show). Once it says READY, your bootable USB is done. Step 7: Use the Bootable USB Restart your computer. Enter BIOS/UEFI (press F2, F12, DEL, or ESC depending on brand). Set USB as first boot device. Save & exit → your system will boot from the USB. #ITskill #RUFAS #Bootable #configure

Tech Tip Tuesday: Reopen Closed Browser Tabs Instantly Tip: Press Ctrl + Shift + T (Windows) or Command + Shift + T (Mac) to reopen the last browser tab you closed. Why it matters: Accidentally close an important tab? No problem. This shortcut brings it right back and even works multiple times to restore several tabs in order. Example: Working on research and close a tab with key info? Hit Ctrl + Shift + T and it reappears exactly where you left off.

Linux Series 3. There are some basic commands you should know about using the CLI By now, you should know what the man command does from my previous. The next commands to discuss is the whoami, pwd, id, hostname and uptime. 📍The whoami = who am I This is used to show or identify the username. This is used often when you have multiple users and switch users often. 📍The pwd = print working directory This reveals the pathway you are working on. You can be in different pathways like home, desktop, documents etc. In my image , I am in my home directory. 📍The id = identity Used to list all the users ,group names and their numeric IDs. Here I have one user in one group as an admin. 📍The uptime Used to indicate the amount of time the system has been up and running. In my case here, 2mins.

I’m a long-time Mac user. Sometimes I’m confronted by using a Windows computer, and I have trouble keeping track of where everything “went”. Here’s what I taught myself this week. Apologies for any mistakes, and please let me know. Thank you! 1. Show open windows from all open applications: Alt+Tab 2. Hide everything except the Desktop (so you can see the files on the Desktop): Windows key+d 3. Show menu bar (File, Edit), or at least shows you where it’s hidden: F10 4. Show all open tabs (in Chrome): Ctrl+Shift+a 5. Start menu: Ctrl+Escape 6. Secret weird menu: Windows key+X 7. Settings: Windows key+i 8. Zoom screen: Windows key plus either + or - 9. Exit zoom screen: Windows key+Esc 10. File Explorer (to find the location of files on the computer when it hides them): Windows key+e Start typing a search word in the upper-right corner, then Search options will appear so you can define if you’re searching in the file name, contents of file, date modified, etc.
