As folks quickly pivot from the AFSF hosted by AGRA to prepare for New York Climate Week - I wanted to take a moment to share our latest episode Voices of Transformation, featuring Virginia Antonioli, Country Coordinator of Food and Land Use Coalition Brazil (FOLU Brazil). #Brazil is showing the world what’s possible when policy, people, and planet come together. Through the National Productive Forests Program, Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) Brazil is working alongside the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming to support 30,000 families in restoring 30,000 hectares of degraded land through agroforestry by 2030. This is more than a program—it’s a living example of how to restore ecosystems, strengthen rural livelihoods, and enhance food security, with family farmers at the center of the solution. Virginia Antonioli shares what makes FOLU’s approach different and where in Brazil you can truly see transformation in action. Listen to the episode below! Read more about FOLU Brazil’s work: https://lnkd.in/gKx5V5uu And you might remember a blog Virginia and I recently published that talks about this project specifically! In 2021, Jack Melly of Kiqwetu Coffee Ltd embarked on a remarkable journey: the transformation of an abandoned, barren quarry into a thriving organic coffee farm. This site of industrial decay has blossomed into a vibrant, productive landscape, serving as a testament to the power of a singular vision powered by innovation and dedication. Jack is a participant in the TRACE Kenya project from Solidaridad East and Central Africa, which helped him revive the soil and restore biodiversity. "The [TRACE Kenya] project played a pivotal role by offering regular training in organic farming methods. These sessions provided us with invaluable skills in proper planting techniques, pest management, and composting, which were crucial in building a healthier, more sustainable coffee farm." - Jack Melly During #OrganicMonth, watch the short film & read how Melly nurtured the land back to life ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gXK62C4v

📢 Earlier this year, I published (together with Donika Kercini and Nertila Ljarja) an article in #SDGs Review: “Community-Based Agroecosystem Management: Enhancing Sustainability for Food Security Through Local Initiatives” 📌 The paper examines how local communities in #Albania use traditional knowledge and community-based approaches to strengthen food security, biodiversity preservation, and ecological balance. Beyond the case of Albania, it offers insights and policy recommendations for other contexts working toward SDG2 (#ZeroHunger). Although published at the beginning of the year, the themes remain very timely, and I would be glad if more researchers and policymakers could engage with this work. 🔗 Access the full article 👇 https://lnkd.in/dfd7ZU45 #Sustainability #FoodSecurity #SDGs #Agroecology #Policy

As I continue to advocate for sustainable agriculture practices in Africa, I am excited to see governments and organizations taking bold steps towards a more environmentally conscious future. The recent partnership between the KOGI Government and Cal-Maji Foundation is a shining example of what can be achieved through collaborative efforts. By working together, they aim to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation, which will not only benefit the local community but also contribute to the global efforts to combat climate change. This partnership is a testament to the power of agro-diplomacy and the impact it can have on local economies and ecosystems. As we move forward, it is essential to prioritize innovative and inclusive approaches to agriculture, ensuring that small-scale farmers are empowered to thrive in a rapidly changing world. What role do you think governments and organizations should play in supporting sustainable agriculture initiatives, and how can we work together to create a more sustainable food system for all? #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy 🌟🌿💚
