"You can't cheat time in the saddle." - Brian Jenney Of all the great advice I've heard about software engineering—and learning more broadly—this is the one that pings around in my brain the most often. It can be daunting to realize that the path must be taken a step at a time. But the thing I feel most is humbled: that to climb higher, I need the transformation that the journey provides.

First off thanks for the shout out and kind words! Now that I'm a decade into writing code for a living I see how true this is but younger me (and sometimes current me) just wants the end result or it feels so far away and I have to remind myself there still is no shortcut - which honestly, makes things a lot more fun IMO

Exactly Peter! Only shortcut there ever is is knowhow transfer. But even that takes time !

100%. Every time I tried to skip steps, the saddle threw me right off. Turns out engineering and horses have a lot in common. 🐎💻
