When finance is siloed, strategy gets fuzzy. Too often, financial models are treated as spreadsheets that live in isolation - precise on paper, but disconnected from what’s really happening in the business. The problem? -- Headcount plans don’t match revenue goals. -- GTM strategy isn’t backed by the resources to execute. -- Product roadmap assumes investments that aren’t actually budgeted. Accuracy matters, of course. But alignment is what makes finance strategic. When I build models for clients, I don’t just hand over the finished product and walk away. I ask: -- How does this forecast line up with hiring capacity? -- Do we have the budget to support the GTM motion we’ve committed to? -- Is the product roadmap properly funded and sequenced? That’s when finance stops being a back-office function and becomes a driver of clarity and confidence. Because models without context don't move the business forward - it's the shared understanding and alignment they bring that create real value.
