Principle Power’s Post

🌊 The 1 TWh milestone demonstrates the readiness of the Principle Power’s 4th generation WindFloat® designs for commercial scale projects. But how do we know our WindFloat® units perform as designed?   Our engineering team meticulously validated performance using real-world data from our operational fleet comparing advanced sensor data against numerical models, finding that: 🔹 In normal operation, average platform tilt remained within 2 degrees of vertical more than 97% of the time, demonstrating that our Hull Trim System delivers stable platform behaviour for maximum turbine output. 🔹 In extreme storm conditions, where the platforms have experienced 20 m waves and 59.6 m/s wind speeds, measured platform behaviour demonstrated a excellent match versus predicted behaviour and accelerations were always below the ~1.0 m/s² design reference value. What that means: Reliable and validated data from 8-10 MW turbines operating on WindFloat® platforms in the real-world environment gives us with the confidence to scale our platforms to 15 MW and beyond, delivering predictable performance and long-term reliability. “Our validated and tuned numerical models accurately capture the complex loading environment for floating wind turbines, ensuring these systems not only survive a 30+ year design life but deliver consistent, high performance across their lifetime. 1 TWh of data shows WindFloat® works. Proven, reliable, and ready to support a planet powered by floating wind.” Antoine Peiffer, EVP Engineering & Product Development #PrinciplePower #WindFloat #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind #FloatingWind
