👀 Join Chisa Koiwa at WindExpo Japan for a dedicated panel to showcase the technology behind the LES EOLIENNES FLOTTANTES DU GOLFE DU LION (EFGL) project, whose installation demonstrates floating wind is ready, bankable, and reliable for commercial-scale deployment. Sponsored by OW Ocean Winds and Banque des Territoires, EFGL features three WindFloat® foundations designed by Principle Power and fabricated by Eiffage Métal. Each foundation host three Vestas V164-10 MW turbines, the largest installed so far on a floating foundation. The units were fabricated at Eiffage Métal’s Fos-sur-Mer yard, pre-commissioned at Port of Port-La Nouvelle, and towed 16 km offshore near Leucate and Le Barcarès in the Mediterranean. EFGL is a real-world demonstration of floating wind deployment. From early stages through fabrication, integration, and offshore installation, the project has validated technologies for 10 MW turbines, port logistics, marine coordination, execution plans, and local supply chains. Engineers at Principle Power have built on the experience of 105 MW projects, which have contributed incremental design optimizations to the next generation WindFloat® technologies. The project now provides further insights on standardization, modularity, and industrialization to support the development and optimization of the 15+ MW generation of WindFloat®!
