Phasecraft has raised $34M in Series B funding to bring quantum computing closer to solving industrial problems. Founded by Ashley Montanaro, Toby Cubitt, and John Morton, the company develops hardware-agnostic algorithms that already work with partners like Google, IBM, and Quantinuum. Phasecraft’s software enables today’s noisy quantum devices to tackle complex tasks in materials science, energy networks, and drug discovery. The round was co-led by Plural, Playground Global, and Novo Holdings, with support from AlbionVC, Latitude, and Parkwalk Advisors — bringing total funding to over $50M. With teams in Bristol, London, and Washington D.C., Phasecraft is positioning itself as a bridge between quantum theory and real-world applications. While quantum computing historically has lived in academic labs and national research institutions, that’s starting to change. And unsurprising, Illinois is leading the charge. 📣 Decisions made by PsiQuantum, IBM, Diraq, Infleqtion and others to build at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park is no accident. Years of investment and building by partners across the state of the local quantum academic and research infrastructure, coupled with a longtime commitment by Governor JB Pritzker to go big with Quantum, our state has the ingredients the #quantum industry needs to thrive: research power, talent, infrastructure and a coalition of public and private partners pulling in the same direction. The Quantum Systems Accelerator brings together leading researchers across North America to push the boundaries of quantum information science and technology. At MIT Lincoln Laboratory, John Chiaverini embodies this collaborative spirit, pioneering trapped-ion quantum information processing and exploring new ways to overcome the hurdles of building practical quantum computers and sensors. "Much of my work over the past two decades has focused on developing a quantum computer. However, what we believed was necessary 20 years ago is not exactly what we are pursuing today. The most complex challenges evolve based on the experiments we can perform in the lab..." Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/etet9THm
