The Episode 8 of Quantum.IT is LIVE! 🚀 And what an episode this is! We had the pleasure of speaking with Chiara Decaroli, PhD — physicist, former VC, and now Head of Strategy at Oxford Ionics. Chiara started with a PhD in trapped-ion quantum computing and has since worn many hats: from helping build the UK’s national quantum ecosystem at the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), to scouting cutting-edge startups as a venture capital partner at Redstone, and now helping steer one of Europe’s most ambitious hardware companies. 💥 Of course, we had to dive into the big news: the acquisition of Oxford Ionics by IonQ, making it one of the very first quantum unicorns. We discussed what this deal means for the industry and how it could reshape the hardware roadmaps. With Chiara, we also discussed: 🔍 What VCs really look for in a quantum startup (if you are a founder or thinking of starting a company, go and check this out!) 🌍 Her take on the M&A wave, and what’s needed to move from university labs to commercial reality ⚙️ Why Oxford Ionics’ microwave-based architecture is a game-changer for scalability and stability 💡 Insights on fidelity, connectivity, and why building a “computer-in-a-box” matters more than ever This episode is a masterclass in deep tech, strategy, and startup execution — from someone who’s been at every level of the stack: science, business, and policy. 🎧 Whether you're in R&D, investing in the space, or just curious where quantum is really heading — this one's for you. 👉 Tune in now on Spotify or YouTube — links in the comments. #QuantumIT #QuantumComputing #DeepTech #VentureCapital

☢️ At CERN, we collided protons to study the fundamental forces of the universe. 😰 In VC I studied founders collide with a different force: burnout. Even the most brilliant founders are expected to build billion-dollar companies… while staying broke until an exit event 10 years down the line. Why? Because in Europe, selling a bit of your equity early is still seen as weak. As giving up. As if de-risking = disloyal. ✅ In physics we evolve by challenging assumptions. ❌ In the startup environment we stay stuck by protecting them. Secondaries are not a sign of weakness. It’s a strategic move building long-term resilience. 🍃 At ReBloom, we usually say we’re building an AI-powered platform for secondaries. But really, we’re building a platform for rationale.

Big moves by New Mexico this week in the drive to accelerate quantum science innovation - and the ecosystem to help those new businesses thrive!
I’m excited to see New Mexico carve ahead with a $25 million initiative to accelerate quantum innovation, led by Roadrunner Venture Studios and supported by an extraordinary coalition of partners This initiative represents an ambitious effort to turn quantum research into real-world companies and impact Over the past several years, I’ve seen firsthand how the regions that succeed in quantum are those that make bold moves and invest in emerging technologies – linking research, capital, infrastructure, and talent. At Resonance, we’ve been fortunate to help shape and connect a number of these ecosystems around the world, from the U.S. and Canada to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. That experience is why I’m so proud Resonance will play a role in supporting New Mexico’s quantum ecosystem build out. We're looking forward to working with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, The University of New Mexico, Elevate Quantum, QuEra Computing Inc., Maybell Quantum, Qunnect, DCVC, Playground Global, and Quantonation New Mexico has a long history of leading scientific breakthroughs with global consequences. Its a signal of how regions can anchor the global quantum economy https://lnkd.in/eFAyeh3V Adam Hammer Zachary Yerushalmi Jacob Douglass Nora Meyers Sackett Corban Tillemann-Dick Alex Greenberg Chase Kimball

💫 Holding the future in my hands! Meet the Cerebras Systems Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE) — a 300mm silicon wafer transformed into the world’s largest single processor ever built. Instead of slicing a wafer into smaller chips, Cerebras keeps it whole, integrating hundreds of thousands of AI-optimized cores with 40 GB on-chip memory and 20 petabytes/sec of bandwidth. This design removes the data transfer bottlenecks of multi-GPU clusters, enabling training and inference at a speed and scale once thought impossible. This bold approach, known as Wafer-Scale Integration, was once thought impossible but is now commercially viable, enabling unprecedented performance for AI, scientific research, and healthcare applications. With partnerships spanning national labs, pharmaceutical companies, and deep tech innovators. It was such a pleasure to meet Julie Choi in her session at Google, AI and Infrastructure. Since its founding in 2016, Cerebras Systems has raised over $700 million from some of the world’s top investors — including Benchmark, Sequoia Capital , Coatue Management, Altimeter, Foundation Capital, Eclipse Ventures, Alphawave Ventures, ADG, and G42 — reaching a valuation above $4 billion.
