💡 Evidence Speaks: PT First Reduces Imaging, Procedures, and Costs! A recent study examined over 3,000 patients with new low back pain (LBP) visits to primary care. Researchers compared outcomes for patients who received advanced imaging (MRI/CT) first versus those who started with physical therapy. 📊 Key Findings: -Starting with advanced imaging was linked to higher odds of: surgery, injections, specialist visits, and even ER visits within a year. -Healthcare charges were about $4,700 higher on average for those receiving imaging first. -Early physical therapy lowered risk of additional interventions and reduced costs. ✅ Takeaway: For uncomplicated low back pain, early physical therapy may be the smarter first step. It's less invasive, more cost-effective, and backed by evidence. At Seattle Rehab Specialists, we use research-backed techniques to treat pain at its source—helping patients move better and heal smarter. 📚 Read more about the study here: https://lnkd.in/dXx3f746

Stanford Health Care worked with Anthropic to create an AI tool that helps primary care physicians A) properly interpret reports from radiologists and pathologists, and B) explain the findings of these reports (in layman's terms) to their patients. At first blush, this seems great, but now I have a few questions rolling around in my head... #healthcare #radiology #medicalimaging #pathology #ai #genai #generativeai #llm https://lnkd.in/g8m4KY_y

The Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) urged CMS to make Medicare payment rules fairer and clearer for radiology. RBMA opposed a new 2.5% cut and other changes that would reduce reimbursement and limit access to care, especially for independent and rural practices. RBMA also supported keeping virtual “direct supervision” (via video) for contrast studies, improving the data CMS uses to set costs, creating better quality-reporting paths for diagnostic and interventional radiology, and aligning Medicare Advantage payments with traditional Medicare.
