𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 10 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 ✨ Data and Business Analysts across the globe 🌎 have been in situations…. where they have to make the dashboard 📊 more and more appealing. But wait! Why it is needed? The simple and short answer is - “ No one wants a boring-looking dashboard “ 🚫 So, here is a 10 points framework, to make the dashboard more and more appealing: 1️⃣ Begin with a captivating 🎨 colour palette that aligns with your theme, steering clear of overly bright or clashing colours. 2️⃣ Opt for readable ✍️ fonts that blend seamlessly into the design, using various sizes and styles to highlight key elements. 3️⃣ Incorporate ample 📏 whitespace to prevent overcrowding and enhance overall readability, maintaining a consistent 📐 layout throughout the dashboard with aligned elements and a structured grid. 4️⃣ Utilize icons and imagery 🖼️ to visually convey information, breaking down data complexity. 5️⃣ Employ a mix of data visualizations 📊 such as charts, graphs, and diagrams, thoughtfully selecting visuals that best convey your intended message. 6️⃣ Foster engagement through interactive components like filters and tooltips 🔄, providing users the opportunity to explore data in-depth. 7️⃣ Craft the dashboard as a narrative 📖, guiding users through data insights in a logical sequence. 8️⃣ Offer customization options 🛠️ for users, adapt the design to their preferences, and ensure mobile responsiveness 📱 for versatile use. 9️⃣ Integrate branding elements 🏢 to strengthen your organization's identity, and include a brief tutorial for newcomers 🚶♂️. 🔟 Ultimately, prioritize user needs and iterate based on feedback to create a dashboard that seamlessly merges aesthetics with functionality. Follow this dashboard hygiene framework and excel in your respective teams ⚡ #dataanalytics #datavisualization #datascience #dashboards #growth

Hey Rahul Setia I think these are awesome tips for improving data dashboards. I find that #2 Readability is something which also is important not just in data dashboards but in resume writing too😄

Points 5 & 6 go hand in hand! Choosing the proper visualization for the message is an art, and by incorporating interactive components, you're turning passive viewers into active data explorers. Excellent framework, Rahul Setia!

Your post is spot on, Rahul! As data professionals, we can insist on best practices for building dashboards all we want. If they don't also visually appeal to our clients, they will be dissatisfied with our work. That is because ... 👇 “No one wants a boring-looking dashboard“

Love these tips Rahul Setia, especially number 3 to include ample whitespace. It's tempting to want to fill up every bit of space on an empty dashboard with an informative chart. But by cramming too much in one place, you make it harder for the audience to get any information at all. One of the greatest skills as a dashboard designer is editing things down: reducing the main view to the most critical charts and saving supplementary information for tooltips or additional views.
