A joint study from Cybersecurity at MIT Sloan (CAMS) and Safe Security has looked at 2,800 #ransomware incidents and found that a staggering 80.83%—more than 2,272 attacks—were powered by #artificialintelligence. This statistic isn't theoretical; it's based on comprehensive, real-world data collected during 2023–2024. The Rethinking the Cybersecurity Arms Race working paper paints a vivid picture of how AI is transforming attack methods. Adversaries are no longer relying on manual orchestration. Instead, they are deploying agentic AI systems that can autonomously execute and adapt ransomware campaigns—from reconnaissance through to extortion. AI is rapidly transforming Zero Trust security, serving as both a powerful defense mechanism and a sophisticated attack vector. On the defense side, AI enables real-time threat detection, behavioral analytics, and automated incident response, strengthening Zero Trust principles by continuously verifying users and devices. However, adversaries are leveraging AI to craft advanced phishing campaigns, automate reconnaissance, and bypass traditional controls. Organizations must balance AI-driven innovation with robust governance to ensure that defensive capabilities outpace emerging AI-powered threats. #ZeroTrust #AICybersecurity #ThreatIntelligence

But in a world of deepfakes, adaptive malware, and data leaks, speed alone won’t decide the winners. Security will. In our new article, we explore why companies must rethink AI not only as a driver of efficiency, but also as a major security factor — and why Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and strong governance are no longer optional. AI is the name of the game at this year's Cybersecurity Summit. How we use it, how it can be used, how it can be used against us, and everything else that comes along with it. There was a quote (approximate) used by one of the panelists at a panel to discuss trends in threats and in our line of work: If I have a broken process and I throw AI at it, I have a broken AI. Also points taken: 1. The bad guys are getting better at evading, a lot more persuasive than ever and are acting more like organized crime. 2. Zero days are coming up faster than a vuln team can identify and patch. 3. Multi channel attacks are on the fast rise. 4. Zero days, legacy infra without sacrificing production, extreme polymorphism and legitimate processes being used maliciously are among the things that keep this panel up at night (other than caffeine 😀)

Cyber ranges let us stress test AI systems by simulating adversarial attacks, unexpected system behaviors, and even malicious use cases. They also bring people and processes into the loop through multi-stakeholder drills that mimic real life unpredictability. Combined with AI governance, cyber ranges could serve as the pre-deployment test facilities for AI systems, ensuring systems are not only functional, but safe, secure, and resilient when it matters most.
