“fewer high-skill professionals are actively looking for new jobs” I’ve excelled in every roll I’ve ever had, but someone had to take a chance with some of my “generalist” background. I’ve volunteered for projects outside of my job description because I love learning and developing new skills. I’ve quickly solved problems because my experience in a variety of different roles has given me the skill set to approach a problem from a different angle that my peers didn’t see right away. Even my hobbies have added to my success at a role as I showed off the Excel skills I learned while planning a family vacation. AI keyword searches don’t like generalists. And that hurts everyone involved. Truly taking a look at someone’s resume could make all the difference in finding the person you’re looking for. Specialists ARE valuable. But Generalists are showing you they’re capable of constantly learning new skills and will rise to the occasion. Get them in front of you for an interview and you’d be amazed at what people can do that just doesn’t fit on a one page resume
Great advice, Some hiring managers Kanjoos/Miser to pay good salary to a professional
The VP in Tennessee blacklisted me. Never will I donate to them again.
That's interesting! I've been applying and seeing so many highly qualified people doing the same, yet barely getting interview calls. It’s either an instant automated rejection or complete ghosting. Crazy times!
Love it. Great words and insights!
Age is a factor/barrier. Companies want younger people for less money; to train their way and then state they want innovation. You don't get options and innovation with the same type collaborating. Try mixing the demographic of hirers, older people don't need time off for childcare and can cover those that do.
OK so the rest of are not “highly skilled”? Zoiks
