The future of energy is being built right now. Steel, sweat, and vision are coming together. A new era for the UK is rising. The first steam generator has been set in place at Hinkley Point C. This is not just a piece of metal. It is 520 tonnes of hope, precision, and progress. It travelled from France, crossed sea and land, and now stands ready to turn heat into power for millions. This generator will use the 295°C heat from the EPR reactor. It will turn water into steam. That steam will spin turbines. Those turbines will create electricity - clean, reliable, and carbon-free. Hinkley Point C is more than a construction site. It is a promise. Two EPR reactors, each with 1630 MWe, which will light up six million homes. For up to 60 years or more, these reactors will continue to operate, day and night, regardless of rain or shine. This project started in 2018. Every year, every milestone, every lift and rotation, brings us closer to a world with less carbon and more certainty. It is hard work, but the reward is great. Clean energy for generations. Jobs for thousands. A model for the world. This is what progress looks like: • Heavy steel, moved with care • Teams working in sync, across borders • Technology and trust, side by side • A vision that does not stop at the horizon The dome is in place. The first steam generator is set. The journey is not over, but the path is clear. This is how you build a future. You start with one bold step. You keep going, no matter how hard. You finish what you start. And you power a nation - one generator at a time. Images: EDF ♻️ Repost the post if you found it informative ➕ Follow me, Ruan Steyn, for more content like this

Thanks for sharing, Ruan Steyn Amazing to see the scale, precision, and international collaboration coming together to define the future of energy in the UK. Hinkley Point C is more than a project. It is a symbol of ambition, resilience, and long-term impact. Congratulations to everyone driving this forward!
Thanks for sharing, Ruan the future.. Once enough nuclear is in place we can wean ourselves off gas for power gen..
Thanks for sharing the thrill, Ruan.
Публикация наводит на размышления. Спасибо, Ruan!
Ruan, a powerful post and a massive engineering achievement. But while this steam generator symbolises decades of fission-era progress, we must also confront the new reality emerging alongside it. Fusion is now moving from lab to grid across the US, UK, and Europe. It offers clean baseload power without fissile fuels, long-lived waste, or 15-year build timelines. Australia's legal framework already allows fusion, yet we remain focused on fission systems that face rising fuel constraints, cost blowouts, and unresolved waste issues. If this generator represents the last great monument of fission, fusion may represent the next leap forward. And as AI, defence, and data infrastructure demand denser, sovereign power, fusion is no longer theoretical. It is a necessity. The bold step we need now is to finish what fission began by building what comes next.
Ruan Steyn steam generators... Not the best track record. Now in an even more expensive version of itself. Ready for the (over) ride, buckle up!
Thoughtful post, thanks Ruan
Absolutely inspiring progress. Clean, reliable power for millions is a legacy worth building.
