Thoroughly enjoyed this read. I’m a firm believer in the constant, valuable threads of learning from the fields and changing rooms of almost any sport. It was inspiring learning about the All Blacks culture and philosophy, the author so vividly brings those threads to life. He validates authenticity in leadership being equally important to integrity, humility, honesty. Combine these with a high work rate to drive the best in us as we lead through (not power over) organisations. I loved his bringing to life Marginal Gains, and how relevant each 1% gain is for competitive advantage. “It all comes back to sweeping the sheds.” Shout out to my dear friend, and the exceptionally bright and talented Hassan Khan for the recommendation. Do follow him for his “What to read Wednesdays” (Hass, mate, how you power through and devour these reads continues to impress me!) Usual pics of covers, blurbs and content below for those keen.

Thanks for sharing this Salman. Strong advocate of learning from sports myself. When we were younger, we would play it sheerly for the love of the game, be it any. However, with maturity I began to realize the impact it had on our professional lives; outside the field or a court. Even at the top of their game, athletes keep pushing their limits. That mindset - of never settling, always learning.
Ive got this but never read it! Glad you enjoyed it
Love the insight and reflections Salman Haider 👌 - I knew you’d enjoy this (so much to take away). More books to come, always appreciate your thoughts 🙏
This is a great recommendation Salman Haider and if you want more in the same vein I would highly recommend: “The Jersey” by Peter Bills…
