"The March seed round was co-led by Flagship Pioneering and General Catalyst, and the in-progress Series A will bring in additional investors. Lila Sciences is led by CEO Geoffrey von Maltzahn, a general partner at Flagship who has previously helped build startups like Generate:Biomedicines. Other leaders include longtime Harvard University geneticist George Church, who serves as Lila’s chief scientist, and Noubar Afeyan, Flagship’s leader, who chairs Lila’s board. The startup has grown from roughly to 60 to 180 employees over the past 12 months, according to LinkedIn data. Lila is potentially the only for-profit company trying to build a business around the nascent themes of autonomous science and closed-loop experimentation — in which AI models can generate hypotheses, test them in the lab, and iteratively learn from the results." #startup #funding #AI #superintelligence

AI networking is at an inflection point. Frontier labs are building 200k+ GPU clusters, but without adequate networking, multi-billion-dollar GPU investments deliver suboptimal returns. The network has become the performance ceiling. Upscale AI’s unparalleled team is building open standards-based networking that doesn't trade off performance. We are excited to be backing Barun Kar and Upscale AI in their $100M seed round. Read more about our decision in the comments.
Congratulations to Upscale AI on their official launch and $100M seed funding annc! 🚀 Celesta is incredibly proud to continue to back and partner with Rajiv K. Barun Kar and the incredible team at Upscale, as we've done in our past and ongoing efforts together at Auradine, Aurascape, and Innovium (acq. Marvell). Upscale, which was incubated by the incredible technologists within Auradine along with Aurascape, is reimagining and democratizing networking for the AI era – one that will eliminate trade-offs between open standards, performance, and scale. The innovation and entrepreneurial spirit within this team is unbeatable – and they're only getting started. Celesta is delighted to join in this financing led by Mayfield and Maverick Silicon, along with participation from partner investors at StepStone Group, Cota Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, MVP Ventures, Xora Innovation, and Stanford University.

Physical AI is redefining what’s possible on the factory floor and across the supply chain, moving ‘too hard to automate’ into the rearview. From soft manipulation and careful picking to packing, unpacking, and precise assembly, these once human‑dependent tasks are becoming reliably automatable through physical AI. Gobano Robotics is laser focused on this frontier, bringing industrial‑grade performance to workflows that were out of reach for years. At Prequel, we are proud to back Ziad and Roch in their pre‑seed round with Axeleo Capital (AXC), Bpifrance, Polytechnique Ventures, Motier Ventures, Kima Ventures, Plug and Play Tech Center, and a strong group of business angels.
