I don’t own the land in Goa where I’ve built my home and retreat centre. I only lease it. And yet, almost every person who comes here says the same thing: “It feels like I’ve finally come home.” It used to surprise me. But it’s not a coincidence. Because unconsciously, in every brick of this place, I’ve recreated the first home I ever knew. From the age of 1 to 3, I lived with my grandparents in a Tata Steel home in Jamshedpur. Sprawling lawns, giant trees — the only place I ever felt free and safe enough to actually be a child. And somewhere in the design, the aesthetics, the energy of this space - I rebuilt that feeling. People often warn me: “But you don’t own the land. Be careful.” They’re right. I don’t. But here’s the truth: Ownership was never the goal. Belonging was. And belonging is not a legal status — it’s an emotional one. And my hope is that everyone who walks through this space is reminded of the same thing: Home isn’t always a place you come from. Sometimes it’s a place you grow into. *** If you’d like to explore our offerings you can register here - www.theforestspacelab.com
The feeling of being home isn't about a place, it about nothing to worry kind of stuff. That can only achieved with sufficient resources. Resources that requires money
Samriddhi Malhotra This touched me. We often chase ownership, forgetting that the real goal is belonging. Your space holds the emotion of a home, not the paperwork of one — and that’s what people truly connect with
It’s amazing how a space created with intention can make people feel at home. Belonging truly goes beyond ownership.
Samriddhi, Your words carry the echoes of a witch from New Orleans. I asked her, "I have always been looking for a home." She looked at the Church in the heart of Tossa, and said "Home is where Belonging is." Thank you for being you, the light. Love, Kushagra👼😈. KiNaB - Karma Is Not a B***h P.S. Miss this part of Belonging in Patnem.
