We are being backuped by our European co-members at REScoop.eu Mutual concerns about the halt of the #offshore wind tender.
📢 The Belgian Government's decision to halt the new offshore wind tender — PEZ1 — less than two months before submission is extremely concerning. After four years of preparation, a 1.5-year delay will have severe consequences: 🔴 Energy independence and stability postponed 🔴Higher costs for citizens 🔴Risk of missing European CO2 targets and facing fines up to €100 million per year 🔴Undermining citizen participation and investor certainty As the European federation of energy communities, along with our members in Belgium, we regret this decision. A simple extension of the construction period to 60 months could have avoided this chaos. Instead, restarting the process in early 2026 reintroduces unnecessary uncertainty. Citizens have invested €2 million through Seacoop, eager to participate and help finance Belgium’s renewable energy transition at lower costs. Mathieu Bihet – It’s time to prioritise stability, investor confidence, and citizen participation. 🔗 [In French] https://lnkd.in/em_22iQG
