Action Via the center for climate integrity Big Oil and its allies have stepped up their campaign to secure legal immunity — and now they’re directly attacking the District of Columbia’s lawsuit against fossil fuel companies. House Republicans are trying to block D.C. from using any funds to enforce its consumer protection laws “against oil and gas companies for environmental claims.” The legislation clearly targets D.C.’s ongoing lawsuit against ExxonMobil, Chevron, bp, and Shell, which argues the companies violated D.C.’s consumer protection law by engaging in misleading acts and practices around the marketing, promotion, and sale of fossil fuel products. Members of Congress can block this attack, but we need your help to let them know what’s at stake. Email the Appropriations Committee. In your email please mention Section 832 of the House FSGG bill that prevents D.C. from acting on their climate lawsuit — and that you are opposed to that provision being a part of any appropriations bill.
