AI search gets personal: Google expands its agentic features globally Google is fundamentally reshaping the search experience, bringing AI-driven, agentic capabilities to its search platform. This move signals a clear shift toward more personalized, proactive assistance powered by generative AI. With its global rollout of AI Mode in Search, Google introduces powerful new functionalities that act more like personal research assistants than traditional search engines. These features go beyond summarizing content—they can analyze, plan, and even execute tasks on behalf of users. Imagine researching a destination, and Search not only gathers insights but also helps structure your itinerary. These agentic capabilities are built to evolve, integrating seamlessly into the user’s intent and context. For professionals in tech, business, and AI, this signals more than a UI update—it’s a step toward autonomous systems embedded in everyday tools. It also raises critical questions around trust, accuracy, and the degree of control users should retain. As search becomes more action-oriented, how we interact with information is poised for disruption. Barry Schwartz discovered that Google is testing a new AI Mode feature called “Ask about any item.” What it does: • Lets users select products or local businesses directly in AI Mode. • Google then generates side-by-side comparisons, specs, details, or business info — without leaving search. • Applies to both shopping (e.g. product comparisons) and local (e.g. business listings). This pushes Google further toward keeping users inside the AI search experience. Instead of clicking through multiple sites, people can get instant comparisons in-line.

#Google AI Mode Product Listings Tests AI-Generated Product #Summaries Google is testing AI-generated product summaries in its AI Mode search results. When users click on a product from AI Mode, a right-hand panel may display a dynamically generated AI summary of that product. The test appears inconsistently, showing up in about one out of four attempts. Why it matters: This experiment suggests #Google is exploring ways to make product research faster and more convenient by automatically summarizing key details. Pro tip for sharper AI answers: don’t just ask a question—assign a role. Instead of: ❌ "How will AI change Google’s advertising platform?" Try: ✅ "You’re a Google engineer + AI expert designing the next generation ad platform. What changes are coming in the next 2 years?" Framing your query this way gives AI a lens—and the insights you get back will feel more specific and tailored to your needs. #AITips #TipTuesday #Productivity

Google's AI Mode/Overviews stealing clicks! and it's impact? August search performance for one of our client - 850.1K clicks against 106.3M impressions! We are literally feeding AI Overviews/Mode and getting not much value in return. Average CTR messed up cuz Google did clubbing of AI surfaces data with usual search results. But compared to Jan 2023 monthly impressions are up almost 750% while monthly clicks are still up but compared to how much impressions (AI Mode/Overviews using the content) we're not getting anything back. And as publishing frequency is between 150 to 200 daily that's a lot of content for AI Mode/Overviews and it get cited everywhere! There isn't any single related query which I have seen where this site isn't getting cited in AI Mode/Overviews but still not much value coming to site in terms of clicks. PS - sharing the data, after taking permission from client 🙂
