11 thoughts from 2 weeks of expat living... 1. Google translate is a dear friend 2. Plants in other countries are so cool! 3. Other cultures value foreign languages more than Americans. 4. Coffee/tea culture has many virtues. 5. Tourists are easy to spot. 6. My mind doesn't think well with 24 hour time (i.e. 17:15 appt). 7. I have no point of reference when it comes to cooking in grams. 8. Happiness and contentment are found where I don't expect it and missing in the places I thought it would be. 9. What is this thing called life? Why do we do what we do? It's been a very self-reflective experience. 10. Bolo do caco is life. (sweet potato bread) 11. My 12-step Amazon recovery program is going well. #expatliving
