At the CII Innovation & R&D Conclave organised by Confederation of Indian Industry , AP on 18th of September at Tirupati , I had the honor of moderating a panel on the topic "Agentic AI: Redefining Innovation, Strategy & Impact". The speakers in my panel were Jagdish Mitra ,Founder & CEO, HumanizeTech.AI , Murali Chandrahasan , Sr Director, Intelligent Industry , Capgemini Invent India and Raghuveeran Sowmyanarayanan , Global Delivery Head, AI , Wipro While setting the context ,I mentioned that across industries, we’ve spent the last 18 months learning what Gen AI can (and can’t) do. Today’s inflection is agentic AI—systems that not only answer but act: monitoring signals, deciding next steps, triggering workflows, collaborating with other agents, and closing the loop with measurable business outcomes. Agentic AI is already reframing work design. Instead of single prompts, we’re orchestrating end-to-end processes—from customer resolution to adaptive supply chains—where agents watch dashboards, follow up on open actions, and escalate exceptions to humans. That requires rethinking task flows, data plumbing, guardrails, and talent. Why this matters for India: Agentic AI is a chance to compress cycle times, reduce cost-to-serve, and unlock new growth—especially in manufacturing, healthcare, BFSI, and retail, which are leading early PoCs. But value will concentrate in organizations that get three foundations right: ✅Trustworthy and clean real-time data ✅Interoperability (APIs, events, standards for agent-to-agent coordination) ✅Operating-model change (clear ownership, KPIs, and human-in-the-loop) The market signals are strong—estimates peg the agentic AI market around $7B in 2025, compounding >40% annually into the 2030s Given my extensive experience in the Telecom industry, I shared some examples of how a few Telecom service providers and Telecom equipment manufacturers are seeing positive impact after adoption of Agentic AI. The esteemed speakers covered various dimensions related to this topics, especially the business impact as it relates to Agentic AI adoption in multiple sectors like Healthcare, Manufacturing etc, the importance of Human oversight and the need for stringent guardrails and data security and privacy. 💡 My Reflections Agentic AI’s value lies in orchestration, not just automation —building systems where autonomous agents, humans, and governance are part of the loop. Data, trust, ethics, and infrastructure are the non-negotiables. Without these, adoption is fragile. Agentic AI isn’t a future promise — it's here. What matters now is how we lead with purpose. As innovators, R&D leaders, and tech strategists, we must choose to build these systems with integrity, for impact, and for everyone.
