Google has made a bold move by switching from Samsung to TSMC for manufacturing its Tensor G5 chip, powering the upcoming Pixel 10 smartphone. This marks the first time a Pixel processor is produced by TSMC, utilizing their cutting-edge N3P 3nm-class process node, the most advanced foundry technology available today. The Tensor G5 promises impressive gains: a 34% speed boost over the Tensor G4 for general CPU tasks and a whopping 60% improvement in AI-driven performance. Thanks to TSMC's N3P, which offers a 5% speed increase at the same power or a 5-10% reduction in energy consumption at equivalent clock speeds, Google can deliver better efficiency and power management, crucial for mobile devices pushing AI boundaries. Why the switch? TSMC's superior yields and refined transistor designs at the 3nm level give it an edge, enabling higher performance with lower power draw. With mass production already underway, this could signal a shift in the foundry landscape, especially as competitors like Apple also eye TSMC's tech. First benchmarks of the newly released Google Pixel 10 Pro XL show that its Tensor G5 chip achieves a total AnTuTu score of 1,173,221, placing it on par with older flagship chipsets. While the CPU performance is a notable 15% improvement over the Pixel 9 series, the GPU performance is a worrying 20% drop, scoring lower than its predecessor and placing it in a similar performance bracket as a four-year-old Snapdragon chip. These initial results suggest that while the Tensor G5 brings solid CPU gains, its GPU performance is a significant disappointment. #Google #TechGiants #GooglePixel #Pixel10ProXL #TensorG5 #Smartphones #TechNews #Benchmarks #AnTuTu #MobileTech #Pixel10 #Android #SoC #Chipset #Chipsets #MobileTechnology #MobileTechnologyNews https://lnkd.in/djM9PGWA

Recent Geekbench 6 scores for the new Tensor G5 chip, featured in the Pixel 10 Pro, show surprisingly low GPU performance compared to the Tensor G4 and competing flagships. However, this is likely due to the phone's GPU drivers being outdated and stuck at Vulkan 1.1, causing the GPU to run at a significantly reduced clock speed of 396MHz. An update is expected to resolve these issues, as Google has historically improved Pixel GPU performance through driver updates, which will be necessary to showcase the full potential of the new TSMC-fabricated chipset. #Google #TechGiants #ChipMaker #Smartphones #Pixel10Pro #SoC #Chipset #Chipsets #TensorG5 #Android #BenchMarks #Geekbench #MobileTechology #MobileTechnologyNews #TechNews #MobileTech #Pixel #ConsumerElectronics #GooglePixel #Pixel10 #GPU #Smartphone #Performance #TSMC https://lnkd.in/dtfRs5hC
