Memorial Day offers us deserved time with family and friends, as well as an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifice of those American Heroes who laid down their lives, defending our country — upholding our cherished freedoms and liberties. Today, we honor their courage, their strength of character and the suffering they willingly endured on our behalf — with no expectation of recognition or reward. As set forth in an act of Congress: Memorial Day is signed into law by the President; inasmuch I encourage all of us at THOR to pause at 1500 local time to observe our National Moment of Remembrance for the fallen, strengthening the values and principles for they sacrificed. When paying tribute those who gave their last full measure of devotion, let us also be thankful for who stand the watch today — the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen serving our country at home and abroad — who put themselves in harm’s way to keep the American people safe, securing the blessings of liberty as enshrined in our Constitution. I also want thank all of you for what you do every day to advance the readiness of our Sailors, Marines & Ships – supporting them as they protect and secure our blessed United States.
