Every time I build or test a new system, there's a fleeting moment of pride — “Wow, I figured that out.” But it’s short-lived. Because just as quickly, I see the system doing what I do — faster, more efficiently, and without fatigue. It learns faster than I can. It reasons deeper than I expected. And when I feel smart, I realize: I’ve only made myself feel dumber again. Roman Yampolskiy, in his Diary of a CEO interview, talked about the singularity — the moment AI surpasses all human intelligence. It’s not sci-fi anymore. It’s unfolding in real time. Quietly, but rapidly. So I’ve stopped measuring my value by what I know. Instead, I focus on what I can still do that AI can’t: - Navigate ambiguity - Lead with intuition - Build trust - Give meaning to the output - Ask the “why” behind the “what” We won’t out-think AI — but we can out-human it. In this new world, your ability to remain self-aware, purpose-driven, and emotionally intelligent is your edge. So I’ll keep building with AI — not as a competitor, but as a co-pilot. Take a step back... (see what I did there?) Always try to figure out if your problem can be solved deterministically first (even partially) ⭐️ You will gain invaluable insights on what the problem actually looks like and might end up not using AI at all like you first thought about. You could realize that 80% of your customer requests can be handled by a simple keyword filter and leave the more complex 20% to AI to tackle. ⭐️ A subset of your possible scenarios will be processed by a trustworthy mechanism you can trust 100%. ⭐️ Figure out a way where AI can actually empower the deterministic approach with the addition of a feedback system. A simple review system could be a process where humans review AI-generated responses and flag errors, which are later used to update the deterministic rules or retrain the AI model. 💰💰 Money. Engineering time costs money, not delivering results too. Ultimately, you need to balance long term risk/reward vs time invested. Choose the best bang for your buck .

MIT’s recent report says that approximately 95% of enterprise generative AI pilot programs fail to deliver measurable business impact or ROI, with only about 5% showing rapid revenue acceleration. The Dark Side of Over-Reliance on AI - Cognitive Atrophy: Use it or lose it. If AI thinks for us, we stop flexing clarity, logic, and memory. Brains, like muscles, weaken without use. - Loss of Voice: AI smooths everything into “corporate vanilla.” Over time, your unique style disappears. Everyone sounds the same. - Critical Thinking Erosion: If AI does the hard part, we skip the thinking. That’s how skepticism dies. Remember, Struggle = sharpness. - Shallow Memory & Attention: Outsourcing meeting minutes means we stop paying attention. Presence becomes an illusion. - Creativity Drain: Decks aren’t slides, they’re storytelling. Letting AI build them dulls persuasion and imagination. - Lazy-by-Default Culture: If we need a bot to write thank-you notes, what’s left of self-reliance? Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what it really means for AI to “unlock” creativity. It’s tempting to frame AI as a force multiplier; more ideas, faster iterations, infinite permutations. But speed and scale aren’t the same as creativity. Creativity begins with a sense of purpose. It’s shaped by the constraints of reality, the ambiguities of human need, and the quiet discipline of making meaning out of complexity. What AI can do, and where I’ve seen it be most useful, is in exposing blind spots. It offers patterns we might not notice, combinations we might not explore. But the moment that matters most still belongs to us: when we decide what’s worth keeping, what’s worth building, what’s worth sharing. Creative judgment lives outside of automation. It comes from context, curiosity, and care. Design’s future depends on the systems and cultures we create to support that judgment. When we prioritize discernment, we elevate design...and the people who practice it! If we want AI to truly serve creativity, we have to stop asking it to perform for us and start asking it to reveal what we might be missing. What does it take to keep up with AI? What does it take to stay valuable? In my opinion what is needed is the professional tone, readability, & engagement. We need to face the demands of the AI-driven world, obviously not by becoming machines, but by becoming more intentional humans. This can only be acheived by continuously improving performance, except instead of restricting it to lines of code, we work with thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Match AI with motivation & meaningful judgment to cultivate self awareness and set it as the human operating system. Self-awareness at this stage isn’t just a reflection, rather it is optimization for better decision-making and growth.
