After Events DC suffered a debilitating ransomware attack, True Zero programmatically engaged and continues to play a pivotal role transforming and evolving their cybersecurity and technology operations. Working closely with Events DC CIO, CISO, and Technology teams, True Zero led the deployment of a fully managed Tanium endpoint management and security platform. The results started on day one giving unparalleled asset visibility that revealed and validated numerous vulnerabilities that the team could not see previously. With Tanium's platform, Events DC was able to "buy down risk" on a continuous basis that resulted in a successful audit with demonstrated success in key areas: ✅ Gaining real-time visibility into all assets across their network, including previously undiscovered endpoints. ✅ Automating IT processes and securing endpoints, reducing the time it took to provision new devices from days to hours with full endpoint policy enforcements deployed. ✅ Strengthening patching and software management, ensuring all systems were up-to-date and exposure to vulnerabilities was reduced. Shortly after Tanium was deployed, True Zero continued to support the mission revamping or replacing Events DC's entire stack of cybersecurity solutions including EDR, SIEM, and ZTA deployments to securely transform their networks and applications for the cloud-first, hybrid work era. Furthermore, True Zero led the migration of other key technologies to the cloud, and continually provides virtual security operations (vSOC). Most recently, True Zero continued to execute on the maturity plan and cyber resiliency strategy with Events DC by deploying next generation firewalls to further automate, protect and integrate the platforms at scale. Out of MDC, we own and operate 12 venues and our goal is to constantly make DC a premier host of events and to bring travel and tourism to the city. When we prune these events, it's critical that the reputation of the city as well as events DC is protected from any cyber attack. I was brought in after a severe ransomware attack hit this company. Through a variety of different attack vectors, bad actors were able to gain access into our infrastructure, and I was charged when I first got here with making sure that we established a secure environment. Titanium was brought to us by one of our trusted partners, True. Zero as an option to help make sure that we were in the right place. You have to choose your managed service partner that understands your mission is extremely important. At True Zero, we take a threat actor focused approach to everything that we do. We view the workflow between security and operations, which are traditionally different teams, and leverage titanium in a way that actually does bring them closer together. Once folks really get to see what their environment looks like, it really does change the conversation to what do we do now? Looking over the shoulder of my chief information security officer and seeing the type of data that we were getting for the first time was eye opening. You can't protect and you can't manage what you can't see. That's a massive risk. Our high boiler plate number for vulnerabilities was like 60,000 when we first implemented Tanium and we reduced that number to 6000. In a short amount of time, having True 0 support us with titanium implementation has really improved our technical capabilities, but it's also given us quite a few wins on the business side. Recently, we had the NATO 75th anniversary here at the DC Commission Center. Whether it was the Secret Service or other government entities that needed to work through communications, sweep our environments, we came out with a clean bill of health each and every time. We have to change our tactics nearly every day because of what the bad actors are doing out there, and now with Tanium, the type of damage done can never be repeated.
