🌟 Employee Spotlight 🌟 Sara Hassoon – Lead Engineer, Structural, Engineering Sara Hassoon, Lead Engineer, Structural, has been honoured with Railway Track and Structures’ Women in Rail Engineering Award for 2025. This award celebrates her significant contributions to the rail and transit industry and highlights her dedication to improving public mobility, sustainability, and urban development. She's a dedicated and passionate professional who enjoys making a difference in the daily lives of Torontonians while contributing to the city's growth, which is why she joined the TTC in 2022 after 16 years as a Senior Engineer at a consulting firm. For Sara, transit is more than just moving people; it's about enhancing the quality of life, reducing environmental impact, and supporting inclusive growth. As a Lead Engineer, Sara oversees various transit projects, ensuring they meet design standards and protect existing infrastructure. Her role includes technical reviews, leading coordination meetings, mentoring junior staff, and balancing detailed technical work with high-level planning. "I enjoy working on meaningful infrastructure projects and solving complex engineering problems. The balance between technical depth, big-picture thinking, and a collaborative environment focused on safety and sustainability makes my work fulfilling and constantly educational," she said. Sara has a bachelor of science in civil engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
