Why a Small Composter Packs a Big Environmental Punch Every 1 kg of food waste sent to landfill releases 2.5x its weight in CO₂ equivalent greenhouse gases. >Now imagine: A small Organic Waste Composter processing 100 kg/day = 36,500 kg/year That’s over 90 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent avoided annually – from one unit. YIMBY’s decentralised composting solutions: ->Eliminate transport emissions. ->Stop methane & leachate pollution. ->Create nutrient-rich compost onsite. ->Lower disposal costs & earn green credits. Result: Cleaner air, healthier soil, and climate-smart communities. And when we multiply that impact across 100+ clients—it’s game-changing for our cities. #ClimateImpact #Sustainability #Composting #ZeroWaste #YIMBYImpact #EcoSmartSolutions #GoGreen #EnvironmentalImpact #EcoSmartSolutions #WasteManagementInnovation #DecentralisedWasteManagement #ClimateAction #CircularEconomy #YesInMyBackyard #CommunityLedChange #NetZero #WasteToValue #YIMBY

E-waste is the fastest-growing waste stream in the world. Each year, over 50 million tonnes of electronics are discarded, and by 2030, this is expected to rise to 74 million tonnes. Yet less than 20% is formally recycled the rest often ends up polluting our soil, water, and air. E-waste is more than a statistic. It is a global challenge, and how we act today will define the environmental legacy we leave behind. #ewaste #sustainability #environment #recycling #greenfuture #wastemanagement

🌍 1 Ton of Food Waste = A Hidden Powerhouse 🌱 Most people see food waste as trash. But what if we told you it’s actually energy, water, soil, and climate action in disguise? Here’s what happens when just 1 ton of food waste is recovered instead of trashed: ⚡ Generates enough biogas to power 8–12 homes for a day 💧 Saves 15,000–25,000 liters of embedded water (depending on food type) 🌿 Produces 400–600 kg of nutrient-rich compost 🌍 Prevents 0.5–1.0 tons of CO₂e emissions when diverted from landfill 💥 That’s not waste. That’s a resource waiting to be unlocked. 🔥 Imagine if every community turned its food waste into energy and soil— We’d cut emissions, power neighborhoods, save water, and feed the earth. 👉 Challenge: Try to go ZERO food waste for 7 days. 📝 Plan smarter. 🧊 Store better. 🌱 Compost scraps. Let’s stop throwing away the future. Because in the circular economy, nothing goes to waste. ♻️🔥 Did you know that in Sweden, district heating systems are powered not only by waste heat and renewables – but also by food waste? Instead of sending organic waste to landfills, it’s transformed into biogas that heats thousands of homes. 🇸🇪 And Sweden isn’t alone – Denmark 🇩🇰 also turns over a million tons of food waste annually into energy for its heating networks. Yet another example of why Scandinavia is leading the way in sustainable, circular solutions. #foodwaste #zerofoodwaste #scandinavia #sustainability #sustainableliving

It's high time to rethink the waste disposal models. We live in a world that consumes enthusiastically but disposes carelessly and without any guilt. But what if we flipped the script? Imagine if individuals, companies, and institutions could earn carbon credits based on how responsibly they manage their waste. Incentivizing proper disposal could shift behavior coz what we want is a behavioral shift. Because sometimes, money talks louder than nature. Let’s make sustainability both a priority and an incentive. #carboncredits #sustainability #carbonmarket #carbontrading #wastemanagement #responsiblecitizen #nature #LCA

Micro-habits I have been thinking a lot about the power of small, consistent actions. Take food waste for example. Most of us just see it as trash—but in reality, 1 ton of food waste holds energy, water, nutrients, and climate potential. Recovering it can power homes, save thousands of liters of water, produce nutrient-rich compost, and prevent tons of CO₂ emissions. 🌱 During the SCH Sustainability Townhall, Tai Kiat TAN, PhD, PBM shared an inspiring example: he is experimenting with worms for food composting—a simple, hands-on way to turn scraps into rich soil. His point was clear: in healthcare and beyond, big change often begins with tiny, everyday habits. 🪱🌿 Whether it’s composting, planning meals better, or adopting greener habits at work, the message is clear: small actions matter, and they add up fast. What’s one small action you’ll take this week to make a bigger impact? #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #FoodWaste #MicroHabits #ClimateAction #Composting

♻️ Turning 1 Ton of Food Waste into Value 🌍 What if “waste” isn’t really waste at all? In a circular economy, every leftover has potential — and food waste is one of the biggest untapped resources around us. Recovering just 1 ton of food waste can deliver surprising benefits: ⚡ Enough biogas to supply electricity for 8–12 households for a day 💧 Saving 15,000–25,000 liters of embedded water 🌱 Producing 400–600 kg of organic compost that nourishes soils 🌍 Avoiding 0.5–1.0 tons of CO₂e emissions from landfills That’s energy security, water savings, healthier soils, and climate protection — all from something we usually throw away. Now, picture this at scale: 🏙️ Cities producing clean power from food scraps. 🏡 Families composting to restore soil health. 🏢 Businesses cutting waste through smarter operations. This is how the circular economy works — turning today’s problems into tomorrow’s solutions. #CircularEconomy #ZeroWaste #FoodWaste #Sustainability #GreenFuture #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #Composting #WasteToResource #EcoInnovation #SustainableLiving #NetZero #ResourceRecovery #CleanEnergy #SoilHealth
