I hope these funds will use for development of deserving families
Truly appreciative for great support in this time of big catastrophy due to climate change disaster.
British Government should work directly with the local CO'S & VO's for any relief or rehabilitation related work. It can be a quick win but if funds are channeled through 3rd party it is unlikely the money will reach the needy
If the politicians get that fund consider it like nothing recived to deserving effecties.
The British High Commission must be cognisant of the fact that it the British Taxpayers money and is a sacred trust with the government. The British Government has an inbuilt system of accountability and responsiveness. DFID in the past and FCDO now is working hard to spend the funding wisely and ensure value for money. Ideally the British High Commission should track the spending and evaluate the impact and benefits to the people through a strong, robust and secure system of M&E. Having served the Government and private sector in Pakistan for more than four decades, I am convinced that investing in people is the best investment everywhere and especially in a developing country like Pakistan. As proposed in an earlier comment, the most appropriate use of the funding should be for building school infrastructure; especially in the areas affected by recent floods, market based skill development programs leading to employability and initiate programs like PEELI and/or continuous professional development for teachers and education managers. Wish The British High Commission the best of luck. Regards. Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik 03334233733 abmmalik@gmail.com
The UK Government should stop giving free visas to Pakistani and Indian nationals - Some have no intention to go back to their country and become part of the "hidden economy -"cash in hand employment" and do not add anything to the UK tax system and can easily hide in the hidden economy for years. The previous Conservative Government gave many Indian national 5 years leave to remain visa and they are working in the UK IT industry - These Indian nationals will never go back and extend their stay and after 10 years they will apply for British citizenship. Why not train UK school leavers to do these jobs? The UK Government instead should supervise the building of Hydro-electric Dams and these contracts should be awarded to UK Companies and support a mixture of Pakistani and British employees to help build these dams and hopefully Pakistan will then be able to cope with these increasing natural disasters.
Appreciable
Instead of funds give us technology to slow down melting of glacier, technical schools in mountains to develop infrastructure! This is the only solution, we don't trust our government at any level. These funds will gone like before!
